How Your Cake Is made and Priced

Creating your birthday cake starts with your enquiry. Whether you want a children’s birthday cake, a floral celebration cake or an adults fun birthday cake. Whether it’s chocolate, vanilla, coffee or prosecco flavoured or whether it has buttercream, fondant…. Once I understand what you’d like your birthday cake to look like, I then start the process of planning and creating it.

Even the most simply decorated cake will start with a minimum of 3 hours of baking, covering and making your edible decorations. Then, depending on the level of detail you’d like on your cake, it is quite normal for me to spend a whole day, and sometimes two or even three days, creating the decorations for your cake. I make nearly all decorations by hand, using various materials including high quality edible modelling paste and food colours, unless you ask for specific items which may need to be purchased specifically.

The Life Of Your cake – Step By Step

Before your cake can even be baked a lot of work takes place. The planning starts the minute you confirm your order.

We start by ordering all the fresh cake ingredients, including the free range eggs we buy straight from the farm!, Then we order and purchase the modelling paste, cover paste, boards, box, ribbons, other edible ingredients, tools and anything else you may need in addition.

We like to hand-deliver your wedding cake to your venue and set it up so that it looks its best – one less thing to worry about! (Please note that a small mileage fee may apply).
